Special Attention For College Students

One Sunday school took advantage of their proximity to a college to begin a new ministry. They began a special class for college and career age young people with an attractive format, talented teacher, and relevant curriculum. Then they asked adult Sunday school members to "adopt" a student for the school year. This involved befriending the student, asking them home for Sunday dinner on occasion, and sometimes planning social events that included the student. Adoptive parents were reminded that the college students would be busy and social activity must be kept within reasonable limits. An added benefit was a greatly expanded pool of talent from which the church could draw and a definite opportunity for spiritual outreach to students who were far from home.
