Calming Those "Speaking-In-Public Jitters"

Nervousness is quite normal when you’re in front of a group. Many folks who would make great Sunday school teachers turn away from the job because they are concerned about having to stand in front of a group and speak. The next time butterflies invade your stomach, remember these truths from Marcia Daugherty in Creator magazine:

People are rarely as critical of others as they are of themselves.

Tension, within limits, can be a positive influence. The energy, momentum and sharpened senses it provides can be difficult to re-create at will.

There’s no substitute for practice and preparation. The better prepared you are, the more confidence and less anxiety you’ll experience.
