Making Summer Sunday School Special

Summer is a very special time of the year. The weather is warm and inviting. Many people are lured away from the church and Sunday school by vacations, weekend activities and other summer happenings. If we are to see our summer Sunday school programs succeed, we must offer a program that is also special and inviting.

Plan to take children and youth classes outside on occasion. Take classes on "field trips" to hospitals, nursing homes, missions and other locations where they can see and be a part of God’s love and care in action.

Use special speakers and special music for combined adult classes, especially on those Sundays when one or more of your teachers are away.

Plan outdoor fellowship activities for individual classes and your entire Sunday school. Block parties, wiener roasts and similar activities promote fellowship among members and provide an opportunity to invite and involve church and family members and persons from the community who are not a part of your Sunday school.
