Summer Ideas
Summer is a time for special events and special activities within the church and Sunday school. The following are several ideas for things that can help make this time of year even more special within your Sunday school and church:
1. Conduct your Sunday morning services out of doors at a campground or park some week. Conduct your regular worship service and Sunday school services, followed by a congregational picnic.
2. Hold a summer "Bike-A-Thon" to raise money for a local or worldwide mission project.
3. Establish a "Share The Bounty Table" where church and Sunday school members can bring surplus items from their garden to share with others. Persons who can use the foods simply help themselves.
4. Hold a series of evening "Back Yard Barbecue Bible Studies" during the summer months. Start the evening with a barbecue supper, followed by a time of Bible study. The host or hostess might provide the hot dogs, hamburgers or chicken; all other persons attending could be asked to bring a covered dish. Each study would be hosted by a different couple.
5. Sponsor a cookout style progressive dinner for your Sunday school class. The class travels, as a group, from house to house of the members, getting a different part of the meal at each house.
