It Worked For Us…

Bible Scavenger Hunt

By William T. Court

Here’s an idea for a Bible game that I have found good with older children and youth in our Sunday school. We play "Bible Scavenger Hunt." There are several ways the game can be played, depending on the age and Biblical knowledge of the participants. For those who are older and more knowledgeable of the Bible, I simply give them a list of scavenger hunt items that they must find in the Bible. For example, "a dove." The kids need to know a story from the Bible that includes a dove (say Noah and the Ark). Then they need to find the story and then the place (book, chapter and verse) that includes the word. For those who are younger or don’t know as much about the Bible, I will have them search for items within just one book or a few chapters of a book. For the sake of fairness, we don’t allow Bibles with concordances to be used.
