It Worked For Us…

Sunday School Mission Projects

By Martha Koons

Our Sunday school class started a missionary project. We asked each member of the class to set aside a certain amount of money each week and give that money to the mission project. Rather than just having the person take a certain amount out of their pay check each week, we have been encouraging each one to come up with the money by doing without something each day or each week. For example, some of the members agreed to give up one soft drink each day (that could amount to more than $150 savings per year). Others agreed to give up one meal out of each week. Still others did other things. Through the project, each of our members has become more aware of the importance of missions and of the importance of personal sacrifice as a way of helping others.
